"When Sachin Tendulkar travelled to Pakistan to face one of the finest bowling attacks ever assembled in cricket, Michael Schumacher was yet to race a F1 car, Lance Armstrong had never been to the Tour de France, Diego Maradona was still the captain of a world champion Argentina team, Pete Sampras had never won a Grand Slam. When Tendulkar embarked on a glorious career taming Imran and company, Roger Federer was a name unheard of; Lionel Messi was in his nappies, Usain Bolt was an unknown kid in the Jamaican backwaters. The Berlin Wall was still intact, USSR was one big, big country, Dr Manmohan Singh was yet to "open" the Nehruvian economy.
It seems while Father Time was having his toll on every individual on the face of this planet, he excused one man. Time stands frozen in front of our Sachin. We have had champions, we have had legends, but we have never had a Sachin Tendulkar and we never will...."
It was Aug-Sep 1997 I believe when Sachin was the captain for the lazy and laidback Indian team @ chennai against the archrivals Pakistan. All I could do is to helplessly see Anwar ,with a bi-runner,smashing all over the park...
I could see the pain in Sachin's eyes...i am sure every Indian Cricket Fan felt that and remembered it till yesterday...
Yes...yesterday....when the man himself...has taken away those bitter memories of that bad day with his majestic, charming display of cricket!!
From the day anwar made the record,I was waiting for this day...I wanted an Indian to break that record...i wanted an Indian to make the 1st double hundred...
I always used to start watching a cricket match played by our team, with a small hope..."Will it be the day?"
Dada,Dhobi and the man himself came close to that before...but today....the Master made it...
HATSOFF to you master...
Thank "GOD",finally anwar's record is broken and the little pain is gone :)
